Hi Scott, I finally finished my 2nd rocker (walnut) using your DVD and templates. This chair was made in memory of my father (John) who passed away during the building phase. We had discussed tweaks to the chair including doing something unique with the headrest such as a. stained glass insert. During my research I could not find anyone that could do justice to what my wife and I wanted. We decided on the “Tree of Life” with my Dad’s initials to the left of the trunk and out initials to the right. I had a friend with a CNC router do the work. We also widened the seat, remodelled the arms and arched the headrest. The plugs are made from “Katalox” which is like Ebony but cheaper. My father was a master woodworker in his own right. I ran into some snags along the way and it was my Da’d hand tools I went to to sort them out. Thank you for your, help, support and suggestions along the way. Sincerely,
Chris and Anissa
I just completed my Simple Rocker and I'm extremely happy with the outcome. For my rocker I chose to use cherry and purchased around 55 Bd. Ft.. I had a bit of sap wood to cut around and still manage to have approximately 10 foot remaining. I chose to use the Maloof finish, as Scott uses, and was very impressed with the results. I used both the templates and DVD and find them to be top notch. Scott has a natural ability to coach and build your confidence. I even had a couple questions that Scott answered very promptly. I rarely work from plans but Scott has raised the bar for my expectations for future builds. I will next try the Maloof rocker as this rocker has built my confidence level. To anyone interested in tackling a rocker, I cant recommend these plans enough. Thanks for your help, Scott.
