The rocker arrived today ,and it is a pleasure to have a comfortable chair
that looks great, and is easy to get in and up from. I was in the chair for
about 30 seconds before I had a cat in my lap. I guess it met her approval
as well as mine. Thank you for your wonderful work. It has been a pleasure

Scott, the rocker arrived perfectly…..Yellow Truck did their job without a hitch. I easily broke the woodscrew code, and lifted the magnificent prize out of he box. Got the bobble wrap bumpers off…..and I’m ROCKIN’. Problem, I’ve got to fight for rockin’ time. Everyone in the family says it’s awesome and we love it….quote me on that one! It is a marvelous piece of Craftwork….Please accept my thanks for something very special…..Now, to the story of the Box….Wow, what a box. You really are a craftsman on that number….ingeniously engineered and strong as hell. We put the top back on, made a small door and punched out two windows, and have taken it to a local shelter. It is now inhabited by a family of homeless dwarfs. They are having a warm dry Christmas all because of you…what a guy!!!! The chair arrived this morning in excellent shape and we are delighted with it! It is truly a work of sculpture. I still would like to consider spending a week with you this coming year to work on another chair if that would work for you. Combining the time with a little fishing would be even better!

I have been working on some jewelry boxes the past few weeks, including a box based on a Mayan temple theme for my archeologist friend.

Wow!

We took delivery of the chair today. After we removed the side panel, even in the dingy orange light of the freight elevator, the chair looked AMAZING! I sat it it briefly, but it didn't quite feel right without a partner. When brought into the sunlight, the beauty of the wood shone through and I was better able to appreciate the craftsmanship. I can't wait to examine it more closely, and present it to my bride!

Hi Scott,

Just wanted to let you know that we have unpacked the bench and I think it's absolutely beautiful. What beautiful, beautiful workmanship - and wood.

I don't think I told you before but I have a house full of furniture made by Stickley and the bench you made looks right at home with the rest of my furniture. I've placed it in my living room.

When the delivery guy started to unload the crate I was watching. He told me that his lift was broken. He was going to drop/lower (?) the crate on the street. I said, "But the crate says fragile." I shouldn't have worried - what a great packing job you did. The bench is in perfect condition.

Scott, I will treasure the bench for it's beauty and the knowledge of the care and work you put into it.

Dear Scott, I must say I always liked rocking chairs, I mean who doesn't. But I have your CLASSIC ROCKER, and I never rocked in a chair like this. I rec'd it as a gift from a DEAR family member and everyone in the family wish it was theirs. Wow! I must be the lucky one. It has been almost a year now and I am still rocking. My precious 9 mo. old daughter absolutely LOVES it. I rock her to sleep everynight as she sucks her left thumb and her other arm under mine holding on to the back of the chair w/ her little grip. I find myself rocking her during the day as well especially on rainy days and we can't use the swing outside. I must say you are a "FINE" woodworker. Now all I need is twins, so I can get my other fave rocker the nanny rocker. Thank you, for being the hardworker you are .You will always be admired for your beautiful work in years to come. T.M.

The rocker arrived yesterday afternoon. It is beautiful and extremely comfortable. My husband plans to sit in it in the afternoon to read. As he sat in it, he said," I think of rocking chairs for old people and I do not consider myself old'" ( He is 79) But he was comfortable enough to use it for reading. The seat is high enough for tall people - making it is easy to sit back in and get out of the rocking chair. Thanks you for your craftsmanship. Hopefully, it gets many years of our use. Thank you for the New Year greeting! 2008 finds us busy as usual but we were able to enjoy many good times with friends during the transition to the new year. We had a few gatherings at our place and on each occasion "Richard's chair" was a point of discussion. Some even commented on it before noticing the nice Christmas tree which is at the entrance! Also, one of our dinners included 11 people at our table which seats 8, so the chair definitely became prime seating.


I still owe you a picture of Richard and his birthday gift (I have many!). As soon as I can get myself organized, I will send that to you.

Yesterday I had a great day picking out lumber with probably the best Claro Walnut provider, Jim Hafferty (Burls and More) on the west coast. Our project is the Maloof rocking chair. In the course of picking through thousands of board feet of lumber we decided to find some examples of the chair on the net and I suggested your page.

We both felt that you correctly interpreted Maloof’s efforts and have successful improved on them. We appreciated the fact that you gave a much deserved nod to Sam on the classic chair. We also appreciated that you took Sam’s efforts as a foundation and reinterpreted them with your other efforts.

My thoughts on art (and really all endeavors) are that we build on the achievements of others. Sam made huge stride in redefining a chair but it is for the next generation to work on his efforts and redefine again. I think that you have made successful steps in that direction.

WOW! That was really fast ground shipping with the holiday weekend and all. I didn't think they would be here that quick.

I picked them up this afternoon at the UPS store. They are BEAUTIFUL! We've been sitting on temporary stools from Target in the meantime, so you can imagine how fabulous these feel. The work you did is truly exceptional and we are very happy.

The rocking chair you made for me arrived last week. It had been crated so well that it wasn’t damaged at all in shipment. I just love it. It’s so comfortable and feels so good to sit in as well as to rock. The wood you used is just beautiful and it even smells good! ...Candy's rocker has had a larger impact on us than you might imagine. She loves it and her friends that have rocked in it are very impressed. As a result, I have redesigned our living room to exquisite chairs and side tables only. No more sofa's and love seats. They impede conversations when we have guests. Chairs can be arranged to enhance rather than discourage conversation.

We ordered seven new chairs. Our two Mies Barcelona chairs and ottoman in black leather have arrived. Our Williams and Sanoma Ramsey chair in saddle leather is due any day. The other chairs were ordered from "artefacto" in Brazil. We've bought from them before and are very satisfied. All are leather in varying designs, colors and textures. Coooooooooooooool. All because Candy wanted your chair.

Chairs were delivered yesterday in perfect shape .... the unpacking was simple per your instructions ...... the finished products are very nice and already have a place in our living room.

Your estimate was correct. The rocker was delivered on Tuesday. I uncrated it last night and placed it in its spot. After a brief trial rock my wife and I retired for the night. I was informed this morning that my wife awoke at 3 am and gave the rocker a more extensive test rock ,at the conclusion of which she pronounced that the experience was both relaxing as well as comforting. Both the wood selection and finish are perfect and your craftsmanship resulted in not only a wonderful piece of furniture but also a beautiful work of art. Thanks.

Your tea chair fits in the dressing/vanity room and is a nice
height and comfortable. So it is our pleasure to see it, touch
it, use it and appreciate it every day. :-) We are thankful.

When our friend Bill (interior designer/decorator) first
saw the chair, his first comment was to the effect that we
needed another one just like it. (No, we don't have the room.)

We had a big birthday celebration and Bill hurried in to move
the chair out of the dressing room into the center of the
living room so everyone could see it AND we had the benefit
of additional comfortable seating! (When we bought the chair,
part of our rationalization as to how useful it would be was
to use it in the living room when entertaining -- it looks
nice and fits with the walnut rockers.)

It is fun seeing the reaction of others when introduced to the
chair. Many comments on style/design, wood/grain, craftsmanship
and comfort -- and then some folks are hard to read.
